Hospice of Anchorage offers people with a serious illness the opportunity to live fully. We support families and other loved ones in coping with the effects and challenges of illness. We focus on caring, not curing. Lifeways is our hospice program. Our services are available to people of all ages with any serious or life-limiting illness.

When you or a loved one is diagnosed with a serious or life-limiting illness, Hospice of Anchorage provides assistance by helping you prepare for and live well with your illness, understanding death, dying, and grief. We don’t focus on dying. We focus on helping you live as fully as possible despite your diagnosis.

A Little Bit About Us

Susie Smith, Executive Director

Susie Smith, Executive Director

Susie is our Executive Director and is also a Colonel in the Alaska Air National Guard with over 24 years of service. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management and a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy in Social Science. Susie came to Alaska for "three years" in 2009 with the active duty Air Force and has made it her mission to stay here to rear her family and serve this community for the long haul. She is an avid traveler and adventurer, a life-long learner, and she loves all things mountains, really, any activity that challenges her outside. She is passionate about our mission and is thrilled to be a part of this very special team!

Ann Corbett, Operations Manager

Ann Corbett, Operations Manager

Ann is the new Operations Manager and will be in charge of grants for Hospice of Anchorage. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Northwestern State University in Louisiana, specializing in Language and Communication. She just retired from the Anchorage School District where she spent the past nine years as a Substitute Teacher. Her family moved to Eagle River over 15 years ago, with the understanding that they would stay for three. It turned out to be the perfect place to raise her family and immerse herself in the outdoors. Ann stays busy taking care of her husband, four kids and two cats. When she does have spare time she loves hiking, reading, cooking, yard work, traveling, and music. She looks forward to learning how she can make a difference for Hospice and our Anchorage community.
